Where’s My Amended Return 2021?

The IRS has updated its website with a new online feature that allows individuals and tax preparers to follow the progress of their modified federal return for the current year and up to three past years. Where’s My Amended Return, an IRS look-up tool, maybe utilized roughly 3 weeks after the amended return has been submitted for processing to:

  • Confirm that the updated return has been received by the IRS.
  • Check the status of the revised return’s processing.
  • Obtain an expected completion time for the return’s finished processing.

You must provide the taxpayer’s identification number or SSN, date of birth, and zip code used to submit their most recent tax return to utilize the ‘Where’s My Amended Return’ feature. If revised returns for many years have been submitted, each return may be chosen from the results separately. How do I check the status of my 1040 return or 1040-X form?

1040 Refund:

The IRS has replaced the refund cycle chart with instructions for taxpayers to use the IRS2Go phone app or “Where’s My Refund” online at IRS.gov. Gov.

According to Publication 2043, Where’s My Refund? gives a specific refund date as soon as the IRS reviews your tax return and confirms your refund. Where’s My Refund? is only updated once every 24 hours, generally during the night.

Refunds for returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) are not processed or delivered until mid-February each year owing to PATH Act regulations. If you submit your return before the middle of February, it will still be recognized, but refunds will be postponed. Please keep in mind that the Where’s My Refund page for these returns will not be updated until February 15th. For additional information, see the IRS’s Refund Timing page.

If you have any questions concerning the status of your refund or need help using the website, please contact the IRS.
